What Mieter App users are telling us — April 2026
60 reviews of Mieter App landed on Google Play in the last 30 days. We read every single one, clustered them by theme, and here is what users asked for most often.
Review mining is a ritual for us. Once a month we pull the raw text of every new review for an app, bucket it by keyword co-occurrence, and pick the three most frequent themes. Quotes are always anonymized and attributed only as "a Google Play reviewer". The exercise works because the signal is small enough to read by hand. 60 reviews fit into a single morning of real thought, not a dashboard you scroll past.
The three themes for the April cycle:
Theme 1: PLZ recognition on edge cases, 14 reviews. The Postleitzahl lookup trips when a PLZ sits on a Bezirk boundary and the app resolves to the wrong side of the line. One representative voice from a Google Play reviewer: "The app keeps putting my 10627 Berlin apartment into Charlottenburg when the Mietspiegel says Wilmersdorf for that street." Our reaction is to add a street-level override table for the twenty-three known boundary-straddling PLZs in Berlin, Hamburg, and München. Work is in a side branch, targets 1.4.2.
Theme 2: Nebenkosten clarity, 11 reviews. Users want the seven flagged line items to say more about why each is flagged. Quote from a Google Play reviewer: "It says Grundsteuer is split wrong but I don't know what the correct split would be." Reaction: we are adding a one-sentence explanation below each flag plus a link to the relevant Mieterbund guide. This also lands in 1.4.2.
Theme 3: Dresden and Bremen were requested a lot, 9 reviews. Quote: "Please add Dresden, I moved here from Hamburg and your app was the only thing that helped me there." Reaction: done. Version 1.4.1 shipped on 2026-04-22 with both cities added. If you see Dresden or Bremen reviews still asking for the feature, they were written before 1.4.1 rolled out to Play Store shelves in their region.
What is changing
1.4.2 picks up the PLZ boundary table and the Nebenkosten explanation strings. Target: first week of May. Not in scope for 1.4.2: the Betriebskosten photo scanner, which stays on its own branch until the OCR accuracy crosses 92 percent.
Review mining only works when we read the actual text. Summary dashboards miss the grammar of a complaint: the specific street number, the exact Bezirk name the user expected. We keep the practice on the calendar for every Mieter App release cycle.
